Online courses

The Department of Informatics at USM develops academic activities that allow it to strengthen ties with the professional area. Its activities are mainly carried out in the cities of Santiago and Valparaíso, but it is open to expand them to places where there is interest in carrying them out. It also has online courses taught in Spanish, which are the following:

  • Fundamentos de BPM
  • Curso Intensivo BPMN 2.0
  • Curso Arquitecturas de Procesos y Empresariales (AE)

This courses start the 1st Tuesday of each month and last for 1 month. Each one has a cost of USD500. All courses can be validated as part of the Diploma BPM (DBPM-D y DBPM-P).

USM: Intensive Spanish and special programs

Intensive Spanish and special programs

During summer and winter, the Office of International Affairs (OAI) offers short-stay programs for international undergraduate and graduate students. Some of the topics are: Spanish as a second language, business, logistics, wine industry, among others. This courses are usually held at the Main Campus (Casa Central) in Valparaíso. Tailor-made programs

This programs are especially designed for international undergraduate and graduate students, created individually with international institutions. These programs are developed to fit the exact needs of the institution. We can arrange academic study, site visits to local companies, language preparation, cultural excursions, and volunteer opportunities. The short programs can either be faculty-led by a professor from the home university, or taught entirely by USM faculty, or a combination of the two.

  • Language: Spanish or English
  • Dates: any time of the year. This programs usually last between 1 to 4 weeks, but they may be longer according to the requirements of the program.
  • Cost: to be agreed.

Exchange at USM

During the exchange period at USM, the international student attends the same classes as full-time students (who we call “sansanos”) for 1 or 2 semesters.

All undergraduate courses and programs, as well as the courses of the Masters of Science, are available to foreign students as long as they meet each course pre-requisites.

We recommend to our future applicants to choose their courses considering not only their academic interests, but their level of Spanish and academic background.

Spanish courses

Currently, USM is offering Spanish courses in two modalities:

Intensive: 50 hours course of 2 weeks during February and July. Cost: USD330. More information.

Semester: Exchange students can take the course “Español como Lengua Extranjera”, that is offered every semester with 2 classes of 1.5 hrs per week. More information.

Courses taught in English 

In order to facilitate the adaptation of the English speaking student’, USM offers some courses in English to help the student with the study plan. This courses are offered at the Main Campus (Casa Central) in the city of Valparaíso, Región de Valparaíso. More information.

Application 

The application dates for each semester are:

  • 1er semester (March to July): September 1st – October 15th of the previous year.
  • 2do semester (August to December): March 1st – April 15th of the same year.

Universidad Austral de Chile: Undergraduate Programs

The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs, which are underpinned by high-level research and development in the following areas: natural sciences, engineering and technology, medical sciences and human health, agriculture and forest sciences, and social sciences and humanities.

UCSC: Spanish Programs

Each year, the Universidad Católica de la Santísima Concepción (UCSC) offers Spanish courses designed to meet the communicational needs of non-native speakers who wish to acquire the Spanish language, a necessary tool to effectively participate in a globalized world. Prospective students may be coming to Chile for business, work or to study and understand the language.

The main objective of these Spanish courses is to develop oral and written comprehension and production skills. In addition, they offer the chance for students to get to know Chilean and Latin American culture through different cultural expressions. Teachers organize debates, workshops and oral presentations, as well as interactive events with the UCSC and the general community.
